Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share with you an amazing thing that happened to us on October 11th for International Day of the Girl! A few weeks before, we were contacted by one of the producers from The Today Show in New York City asking to feature both of my daughters as two young founders of Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund and our Bikes for Girls Program. We were so incredibly excited! Here is the video of the show if you haven’t seen it, and please be so proud that you helped the girls and me by donating one or more of the bikes talked about that day:

As so many of you may know, my late husband and I adopted our daughters from Vietnam in the late ’90s and early 2000s, and after his death we moved to Vietnam to spend eight months living there. The girls were 10 and 13 years old at that time. When we returned home that year in 2012, we decided to start Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund after seeing and experiencing the incredible poverty in the countryside and the great need for additional educational experiences and support for kids there. This was the start of all of our programs, including the Bikes for Girls Program.

So on October 11th in celebration of girls supporting girls around the world, both Sophie and Phoebe were featured live on The Today Show, along with another little girl named Tully, also adopted from Vietnam, who has given up her birthday for the last four years to raise money to buy bikes. That day I was below the stage watching the girls live on the show talking to the hosts Hoda and Savannah, filled with such pride for them for all of the work that they have done for the non-profit and the time spent working in Vietnam during their summers for the last nine years.

Again, we want to thank you for all of your support since 2012 to be able to provide over 1,500 girls with new bicycles to ride to school in Vietnam. You have made a tremendous difference in so many girl’s lives, including ours!

Thank you again,

Sara
