Bikes for Our Girls!

By Sara Nerone | Co-Founder

Dear Friends,

Many of you know that in addition to our Bikes for Girls program, we support girls in many other ways as well, to help them through school. Twice a week all year long, over 80 girls attend art and music classes with our wonderful teachers, as well as the 100 girls that we provide tutoring for during the spring, and all summer long in all the traditional subjects such as chemistry, math, literature, and language, to help them be successful at school. Through the arts, the girls get to not only have fun and be creative but have a space and opportunity to express their dreams and share their life challenges with us freely and openly.

The reason I’m sharing this is that last month we realized that some of our students in the two villages, did not have bikes! Crazy enough, we’ve been working with this large group of girls for so long that we failed to recognize that some of them were walking 30 minutes one way, both weekend days to join our art and tutoring classes! So, in April, we brought your beautiful pink bikes and helmets to the village to give out to the girls.

We hope you enjoy the photos of our students receiving their new bikes and feel a bit of joy from their joy, so evident in the photos.

Thank you for helping us provide this simple way to support girls getting to school!

Have a great spring!

Sara
