Dear Friends,
This month, we are excited to again feature one of our bike recipients’ story. We are excited to introduce Tram. Tram is a bright, caring fourth-grade student whose quiet determination shines in her shy smiles. She lives in a small village in Vietnam, with her mother and older brother. Her older brother, Tran, is currently a secondary school student, where he enjoys learning and spending time with his friends. Tram’s family faces many challenges. Her mother works long hours at a seafood facility, packing seafood, balancing both her difficult job and the responsibilities of being a single mother. After a long day, she returns home to ensure that Tram and Tran are well cared for. Tram’s mother struggles sometimes, as no relatives live close by to help her care for the children, but she says she tries hard to be there for both Tram and Tran, as much as she can.
Tram was selected to be a recipient of a new bicycle not only because she is from a poor family, but also that she is a good student. Tram really enjoys going to school and as she says, learning about many different subjects, from Chemistry to Grammar, but for Tram, her favorite subject in school is math. She told us that she enjoys solving equations and understanding why certain rules are in place for solving different types of math equations. Practicing math brings her joy, especially with the encouragement of her supportive teachers. From the warmth given by her supportive teachers, her dream one day is to become a teacher, hoping to help others just as she had.
Outside of school, Tram, like many kids her age, loves drinking milk bubble tea, which is her favorite treat after school. However, the most treasured possession is her new, pink bike. A special gift that symbolizes hope and opportunity for her. For Tram, her bike is much more than just a means of transportation from one place to another; it encourages her to continue in school to be one step closer to achieving her dreams of becoming a teacher.
We are excited to see what is in store for Tram in the future. The opportunity to support girls like Tram is made possible by your continuous support and generosity, and we are excited to share more inspirational stories to come. In 2024 we were able to provide 500 girls with new bikes, helmets and bike pumps. Please help us reach that same goal for 2025 and consider donating a bike today!
Thank you,
Phoebe
