The Girls Education Project in Rural Nepal

As mentioned in the last report that eighteen of our sponsored girl took the final Secondary Education Examination (SEE), the result is out. Only two of the girls have passed the exam and they are in registration process to study higher secondary education. The remaining sixteen girls are re-taking the exam from today as a second change in hope that they may pass. Similarly, four of our sponsored girls took the final higher secondary education exam and two of them have passed.

The government data shows that only 52% of students have passed the SEE exam this year and, it has raised a serious concern about the quality of education in the country. Considering the result at national levels, our girls have not obtained a good result. But our girls are from poor and Dalit family, attend community school which is mainly for poor people and they do not have help and support at home like others. So, we have to be happy that at least they attempted the exam and gained a level of reading and writing skills.

To begin the new curriculum year, we have been proving a fresh set of study materials, school bag and a bicycle to the new comers. So far in this year, we have provided 12 new bicycles, 950 notebooks, 450 pen and pencils, 60 Geometry box, 60 calculator, 60 School bag and paid registration and exam fees. School attendance of the girls in the last three month also looks satisfactory and working even harder to improve it.
