Access to Higher Education for Girls
Project Progress Report
Project Overview
Feminine Star Africa continues to work towards ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent girls and young women from accessing higher education. Through this project, we support young women from underserved communities who have the determination and potential to pursue further education but require financial assistance to do so.
Supporting Our Existing Beneficiaries
During this reporting period, we have continued to support Patience, one of our scholarship beneficiaries, as she progresses with her education. We have provided her with a monthly stipend to support her basic needs while she remains in school, helping her stay focused on her studies despite financial challenges.
We have also continued supporting Perfect, who is working towards rewriting her Senior High School certificate examinations in order to improve her qualifications and strengthen her pathway to higher education.
Recognising her responsibilities as a young mother, we have also provided Perfect with stipends to help support her and her daughter while she works towards achieving her educational goals.
These forms of support may seem small, but for young women facing financial hardship, they can make a significant difference in helping them remain on track.
New Scholarship Applications
We are encouraged by the growing number of young women reaching out to Feminine Star Africa for support.
So far, we have received approximately 10 scholarship applications from girls and young women seeking assistance to access higher education.
Two applicants, Michaella and Perfect, have already received admission letters, while the remaining applicants are awaiting admission outcomes.
Our immediate priority is to raise sufficient funds to help these young women pay their initial school fees and begin their higher education journeys. We also hope to continue supporting them with subsequent fees as funding becomes available.
Our Goal
Our goal is not simply to pay school fees. We want to help young women overcome the financial barriers that can prevent them from reaching their full potential.
Every scholarship creates an opportunity for a young woman to gain an education, build economic independence, support her family and eventually contribute meaningfully to her community.
Looking Ahead
As more young women approach us for support, the need is becoming increasingly clear. We are committed to expanding this programme, but we cannot do it alone.
With additional funding, we hope to:
Support Michaella and Perfect to begin their higher education.
Assist other applicants who receive admission.
Provide support towards subsequent school fees where possible.
Continue providing targeted stipends to beneficiaries facing significant financial hardship.
Reach more girls and young women who are at risk of having their education interrupted because of poverty.
We believe that a girl's financial circumstances should not determine how far her dreams can take her.
Through the generosity of our supporters, we can help more young women move from hope to opportunity, and from opportunity to transformation.
Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in the power of education and in the potential of these young women.
