Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Indian Dreams Foundation!
We are pleased to come up with the story of a remarkable change in the life of our beneficiaries of the Smiley Days Project. She is happy to share her period experience with Smiley Days team members.
Shivani (name changed), the student of class 9, is one of the Smiley Days Club members. After getting training on Menstrual Hygiene Management in her school, she discussed the information with the female family members and conveyed the message to her neighbourhood and friends. Shivani is 15 years old girl who belongs to a slum area of Agra. Belonging to the most under-developed area she never knows the best practices of Menstrual Hygiene.
In the interview, Shivani said “I used to throw the used sanitary cloths and pads in the open but when Smiley Days team shared information during my school workshop then I came to know about the proper practices of Menstrual Hygiene. Now I throw my used sanitary pads in the dustbin after wrapped in the newspaper”. She added, “I was ashamed a few years ago when I got periods and never discussed it with anyone. But now I proudly say Yes I am in my periods and healthy. I feel so proud to be a part of the Smiley Club of my School and spread knowledge among the group of girls”.
Shivani said that she was shy when discussing menstrual hygiene issues with her friends but now their welcoming attitude has enhanced her confidence.
IDF has planned to partner with 14 schools in 2022-23 and target more than 2000 school girls to spread awareness towards menstrual hygiene management and well-being.
Thanks for your support and encouragement!
Regards,
Team IDF
