Dear friends,
Greetings!
Why do girls feel shy to talk about their Periods?
Why do they hide their menstrual products?
Why do girls miss school days during periods?
Why do girls hide their faces while talking about periods?
There are many questions that restrict girls & women to live with confidence and it really needs to clarify to spread happiness and well–being. During the journey of the Smiley Days program, our team has tackled lots of such questions. However, our Smiley Days team is rigorously creating awareness in urban and rural slums in India about menstruation-related issues, menstrual hygiene management and the importance of menstrual hygiene products to stay fit and motivated.
Jyoti Singh, Project lead said, “This year we will target to reach approx. 2000 new girls from 10 new partner schools. Through this initiative, we will target girls from age 14 years onwards and provide them with information and knowledge on menstrual hygiene issues. We believe that we should target mothers & also educate them appropriately and immediate female family members of the girls also to break the taboo associated with periods”.
She added, “Along with this, we will improve the capacity of the school teachers by organizing training sessions for them, we will include girls’ mothers and providing them knowledge on menstrual hygiene management and we will develop the Smiley Girls Groups in the schools to initiating peer learning and the Smiley Groups consist the active & influential girls of the schools. I thank our supporters who are continuously helping us to reach the large masses and spreading awareness on menstruation matters”.
Thank you so much for your support and belief in our cause.
Thanks & Regards,
Team IDF
