Greetings from the Indian Dreams Foundation!
Smiley Days team conducted an awareness workshop with school girls on 25th August 2022 and distributed the participants' hygiene kits free of cost. The details of the workshop are mentioned below;
Venue of the workshop: C.P. Inter College, Agra
Target beneficiaries: School girls (class 6th - 12th)
No. of Teachers’ attended: 1 Female teacher
No. of Participants: Approx. 60
Details of Activity: Changes during Puberty, Menstruation, Hygiene practices during menstruation
Hygiene kits comprise: Sanitary Napkins, Vaginal Wash, Soap, Toothpaste, toothbrush, and shampoo.
It was an activity-based workshop where girls were excited and happy to share their views with the IDF team.
Below testimonials/ queries are collected by our team members during the workshop;
Saloni (name changed), who is in 9th standard said, "My period's date is not fixed, mostly I get my periods on odd days or my periods are delayed. Am I suffering in some severe issue didi?". Saloni innocently shared her issue with Smiley Days team members and She got satisfactory responses from the team members.
Khushboo (name changed), who is a student of the 10th class. She said, "I get infections during periods and post periods days. I feel a lot of itching and red rashes near my private parts. I feel much more uncomfortable going outside and I often skip my school at least for 4 -5 days".
Our team member Anjali taught her very impactfully and describe the reason for her issues/ problems. The team member told her to use sanitary napkins in place of cloth and also told her to use the single sanitary pads for only 3-4 hours to stay healthy and safe. Also introduced the usage of vaginal wash and keeping the vagina clean & dry.
After attending the workshop, all the girls looked happy and they asked to conduct another workshop soon. All the girls and school teachers thanked the IDF team for conducting such a wonderful workshop.
