IDF has been running the Smiley Days Initiative for last many years to eradicate the stigma associated with menstruation-related issues. It also helps adolescent girls and women in overcoming the social barrier associated with menstruation.
Smiley Days team is continuously reaching new areas to promote menstrual education and collecting first-hand information from the women and girls about period practices through door-to-door visits. Our pre–designed Information Form has a series of questions related to the individual girl or woman’s reproductive health & hygiene issues.
On 07.12.2022, the team visited a new slum in the Agra district named Baluganj Nayi Basti and interacted with more than 100 women and adolescent girls. On the same day, our team filled out the Information Form of approx. 60 women and girls successfully.
The Smiley Days team interacted with the women & girls directly and disseminated basic information on menstrual hygiene management and the importance of sanitary napkins.
The team noticed a few important things below;
Shanti Devi, 70 years (name changed) shared her views with the team. She said, “I really appreciate that you all are teaching our girls about periods. Our girls and women didn’t receive such important information before”.
