Hi friends,
Happy International Women’s Day to all!
We organized a grand International Women’s Day event and sensitized women and adolescent girls towards reproductive health and hygiene.
IDF celebrated International Women’s Day on 6th March 2023 with more than 800 women and girls from the urban and rural slums of Agra. International Women's Day is celebrated globally on 8th March as a focal point in women's rights, bringing attention to gender equality, reproductive rights, education rights and violence against women.
Kiran (Name changed) said, "I participated in this event as a volunteer and it was my 1st day with the Smiley Days team. I am really happy to be a part of this event and interacted with many women and adolescent girls. My mother always attended the IDF's workshops and told me to attend at once. After attending this program today, I realised the importance of Women for society and for the family also. Women should take care of their own health and follow hygiene practices during periods to stay healthy. Today's International Women's Day and I am proud to be a Girl. I would like to extend my regards to team Smiley Days to promote menstrual hygiene among the community girls and women. I am happy to see that my community women are adopting hygiene practices during periods".
Above testimonials of Kiran (Volunteer) were recorded after the event. She looked so happy and motivated.
Participants attended the event with full enthusiasm and a spirit of learning and all participants received a hygiene kit that comprises sanitary napkins, soap, panties and biscuits.
We deeply appreciate your support that enabled us to continue to spread menstrual hygiene awareness among underserved communities.
Thanks & Regards,
Team IDF
