Hi Friends,
Greetings from Indian Dreams Foundation and Happy Diwali !
“Poor menstrual hygiene can pose physical health risks and has been linked to reproductive and urinary tract infections”.
Indian Dreams Foundation (IDF) is rigorously working to provide knowledge and education to adolescent girls and women on menstrual hygiene awareness. In this regards, IDF conduct awareness sessions/workshops/camps in schools and communities on regularly.
Recently, IDF conducted an awareness workshop in an Inter College on menstrual hygiene and usage of sanitary pads. More than 100 girls participated and informed about the periods issues. Hygiene kits were also distributed to the girls.
Details of the workshop are below;
Name of the School: Tota Ram Inter College
Location: India
No. of Girls attended: More than 100 girls and 6 female teachers
Age group of the girls: 13 to 18 years
Topics Covered: Importance of sanitary napkins, Age of menarche, why do girls have periods? , Hygiene habits during periods, etc.
The IDF Team collected a few testimonials or feedbacks from the participants during the workshop.
“I live to attend the workshop on periods and now I am really happy that I have someone with whom I can talk about periods. Thank you team IDF”. Seema (name changed), 8th class student.
“I got my periods at the age of 15; well my friend got her periods at the age of 13. That time I was really much tensed to think about my menarche. I wanted to talk someone and share my issue but didn’t find anyone. Time passed and one day I also got my periods. Today I got a chance to ask my query with IDF team during workshop and didi told me “that it’s normal. The age of menarche depends on the person to person so do not worry about it if you don’t get your periods with your friends. You have to wait for some time and relax”. Thank you team IDF for providing me such important information”. Kavita, 10th Class (name changed).
Many thanks again for your support and for changing the lives of many girls through MHM education.
Thanks & Regards,
Team IDF
