The crime rates in the village of Ebu were on the increase and the Youths were been blamed for stealing, prostitution, and the introduction of Indian hemp to the community. Extended Arms Initiative (EAI) investigated and found the Youths were idle and feeling hopeless. It was important to bring change to the community by keeping them occupied. EAI vision was to give the youths a sense of worth by providing skills for them to become productive adults in the community. A Youth center was designed.
With the Youth center in place, the youths have a safe place to go and to play soccer ball, basketball, table tennis without getting in trouble. Also, they now have the opportunity to learn skills like computer training, sewing and other crafts under the supervision of well-trained adults. After graduation, they will be employed at the Youth center to train others. They will be able to provide for the families through the income they make from their skills. This will give them self-worth.
This project will train the first 100 youths and help them to become providers for their family's health and wellbeing. Also, make them good ambassadors to their community.
