Thank you for supporting A Brighter Future for Women and Girls in Venezuela.
Sofia, 19, is one of our volunteers at Pirineos in her second year studying Social Communication at University. She'd never volunteered anywhere before Pirineos, and now spends her time supporting children through the project's learning programme.
"I've learned to do things with love and dedication, to understand people, and the value of empathy," she says. "The children are always waiting for us with joy and enthusiasm, and that's what makes me want to give my best."
What she's proudest of isn't a certificate or a milestone. "Connecting and building friendship with the children in the project has let the work between all of us flow, with greater commitment on every side."
She enjoys Pirineos so much that she chooses to study there herself too. "Its spaces are comfortable, the power and internet never go out, and there are quiet spots where I can focus."
Looking back, she's clear about why she stays. "Pirineos opened its doors to me since I was young, and there's no better place to volunteer than with the people who taught me to become who I am today."
Thank you for supporting her, and the children she supports in turn. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at Poppy@wonderfoundation.org.uk.
