We are happy to report that by the end of August 2022, our number of books donated to various communities has come to 29,734!
Some notable highlights include: A story-telling day with children in a shelter, in partnership with Virlanie Foundation and DTCC Manila (Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation); donation to the Valenzuela Public Library that is currently being built; climate change books to children in Puerto Galera and Nueva Ecija in time for their Earth Day celebrations; and a significant 3,000+ book donation to a local elementary school, Camarin D Elementary School in Caloocan. Last but not least, we also published a Braille version of Karapat Dapat: Child, Know Your Rights! in partnership with Save the Children -- the first of our books ever to be available in Braille!

"Those who forget their history are condemned to repeat it," philosopher George Santayana once said. The meaning of this quote feels more significant today, in the Philippines, as we remember the declaration of Martial Law on its 50th anniversary (September 22) while also navigating ourselves under the presidency of the son of the late dictator.
Now, more than ever, must we resist through remembering, and as such, we are reprinting and distributing our books on human rights, truth versus fake news, and history with new vigor and urgency. These titles are The Weight of Words: An Alphabet of Human Rights, Silent Witnesses: Stories from the Survivors of Martial Law; and #YOUTHink: Fight Fake News in both English and Filipino.
We are also working to reprint Karapat Dapat: Child Know Your Rights!, our book on children's rights published to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which has since gotten a warm reception, and even a citation in the White Raven's List in 2020.
