We're going to press shortly with a new book for children in public schools and hospitals shortly.
"Message in the Sand" is a story of a young boy's efforts to save the sea. Simple and easy to read, it was written for CANVAS by international bestseller Charmaine Aserrapa, and illustrated by Filipino artist Roel Obemio.
Attached are files of the book - they just go through one final proofreading, and the printing will begin.
Sets of the books will be accompanied by teaching guides about marine conservation, the state of beaches in the Philippines, and other lessons which are now being prepared by experts from the University of the Philippines' National Institute of Geological Sciences. These will then be given to public school teachers so that they can use them in conjunction with the books that will be handed out to their students.
The books and guides should be printed and ready for distribution by next month... just in time to get them to their intended audience shortly before Christmas!
Meanwhile, we're also preparing two other titles: "Rizalpabeto" (an alphabet and poetry book centered on Jose Rizal, our national hero) and "Blue Stars" (our newest children's book, which we will launch in October), for distribution before the end of the year. We will keep you posted on these.
Hopefully, we'll be sending you pictures of the new books in the hands of Filipino children in our next report!
Thank you again for all your help and continuing support!
