Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all schools in Jakarta have closed and children must study from home. This includes the children at the Cirendeu dump site. Our Primary, Middle School High School and College students are staying at home, with limited source and tools to continue studying from home.
Trash pickers are among the most vulnerable people. There work was already dangerous and susceptible to the corona virus, but they must keep working to survive. Earning such a low income, they cannot afford the means to protect their family from the virus.
Even though they must keep collecting trash, they are now more aware of precautions they need to take concerning Covid-19. This includes using gloves and masks, and regularly washing their hands. But because they live in a cramped environment “physical distancing” is difficult, and masks, even if they can be found, are expensive.
XSProject is trying to assist by making sure the children have proper food, supplements, and disinfecting soap. We are also preparing supplies in case there is later a quarantine. We will continue to provide them with fruits, soap, and other simple things alternately That is the least we can do for the children and their families as we realize that finding masks and disenfetand soaps are getting harder to buy, and we want those supplies are for those who need the most, the nurses, the doctors, and hospitals.
Your generous donations will help us and help them, help the children and their families to get a little bit something to fight the virus.
