Nigeria records rising cancer cases, and many people cannot pay for early screening. Most cancers are detected late, leading to high loss of life. On World Cancer Day 2026, we will run free screening during the "Cancer No Be King" walk. Thousands join this event, giving us a chance to reach people who rarely get checked. Support is needed now so more adults can detect cancer early and seek care on time.
Many Nigerians cannot afford cancer tests, and most clinics do not offer low-cost screening. People often ignore early signs because screening is too expensive or too far from home. As a result, many arrive at hospitals only when cancer has spread. This causes high loss of life and financial strain on families who are already struggling.
The project will bring free cancer screening directly to the public during the World Cancer Day walk. Trained medical staff will test for common cancers, give simple explanations, share referral points, and guide people who need follow-up care. The event setting helps reach people who do not visit hospitals and creates a safe place for early checks.
Early screening increases the chance of finding cancer at a stage where treatment works better and costs less. More people will learn the value of regular checks and seek help sooner. Families gain awareness, and communities build better habits toward early detection. This reduces late-stage cases and helps more adults stay healthy and active.
