Empower 300 adolescent girls in Dhaka's slums by helping them stay in schools and providing them with tools to become future leaders. Your generous support helps them to get leadership training, social and environmental education, financial and digital literacy, income-generating skills, and scholarships to sustain education and transition to decent employment. Together, we mobilize families to help their girls take charge of their lives and transform communities, creating a lasting impact.
In Bangladesh, adolescent girls face many challenges that force them to drop out of school and keep them from earning a decent income. In the whole country, only 36% of girls go to college, and in the Dakkhingaon and Nandipara slums where we work, 33% of teen girls live in poverty and face such discrimination that they end up in child marriages and further exploitation. These girls need holistic support to explore their potential and take charge of their lives.
We take a 360-degree approach to empowering girls from slums in Dhaka. Our programming includes - 300 girls in 30 community-based girls' clubs. Training in leadership, financial and digital literacy, social and environmental education, and income-generating skills. 60 girls get education scholarships. 30 social action projects led by girls benefitting communities. 1500 community members engaged to support girls. Girl Summit to form a network and connect girls with inspiring leaders.
We empower 300 girls and foster lasting changes where they are equipped to overcome obstacles, take control of their lives, and become future leaders. Communities are also transformed, promoting inclusivity and gender equality. The lasting change extends to current and future generations, improving the lives of adolescent girls and creating a more equitable society.
