Give Hope a Home: A shelter for Teens with Cancer

Summary: During this reporting period, Fundación CAMINO continued to provide a safe, supportive, and dignified home for adolescents undergoing cancer treatment, along with their caregivers. Our holistic model addresses not only housing needs but also emotional wellbeing, nutrition, and access to healthcare services.

Key Achievements:

- During last month we provided accommodation to 28 families from different regions of Chile.

- Ensured daily meals and essential living support for all residents.
Facilitated transportation to hospitals and medical appointments, reducing financial and logistical burdens on families.
Delivered psychosocial support through counseling sessions and wellbeing activities, promoting emotional resilience.

Impact: Adolescents and their families experienced reduced stress and increased stability during a highly challenging period. By removing barriers such as housing and transportation, patients were able to focus on their treatment and recovery. Families reported improvements in emotional wellbeing and a stronger sense of hope for the future.

Challenges: One of the main ongoing challenges is the high cost associated with transportation to hospitals and medical centers. As many families come from outside Santiago, frequent travel remains a significant financial burden for the foundation.

What’s Next. In the coming month, Fundación CAMINO aims to:

Strengthen fundraising efforts to cover transportation costs.
Expand psychosocial support programs for adolescents and caregivers.
Continue improving living spaces to ensure a warm and welcoming environment.
