Nine years ago, Sports for Change welcomed Lilian into the program. At the time, she was a shy and timid girl with limited opportunities, but with a spark of potential that simply needed a chance to grow.
Through the support of the program, she was able to complete her secondary education and benefit from our holiday mentorship camps. These provided social guidance that helped her built confidence, leadership, and resilience. Step by step, she blossomed from a quiet young girl into a determined young woman who believed in her abilities.
Her hard work paid off. Lilian successfully passed her exams and earned admission to university, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, specializing in Finance & Banking. After four years of dedication and persistence, she proudly graduated on 25th July 2025, she become the first girl in her entire village to achieve a university degree.
This milestone is not only a personal victory for her but also a breakthrough for her community. There was a big party in her village to celebrate her success .
Her story is an inspiration to many young girls who look up to her as proof that education can open doors and transform lives.
While we celebrate Lilian’s success, it also reminds us of the heartbreaking reality that many other bright young women in her village are left behind due to lack of access to education.
At Sports for Change, we are incredibly proud of Lilian . Her journey embodies the power of education, mentorship, and support. She is a shining example of what is possible when a girl is given the opportunity to dream and the tools to pursue those dreams.
We sincerely thank all our donors who believe in our mission of changing lives and continue supporting us. Lilian’s success story belongs to you as much as it belongs to her. We gave her a lifetime gift that will benefit her whole community and generations to come. Together, we are breaking barriers, one child at a time.
