Give needy kids life and hope through education

With more support from you and others, we have managed to support our kids more. During our August holiday, we planned to have the kids with us for two nights instead of one. This helped in many ways 1. The kids -who only meet during this sessions-bonded more with each other 2. We covered more areas which needed to be addressed both in their social and school life 3. We had more time to spend with the kids 4. It was less stressful -we always try to cover a lot within limited time which end up stressing us. 5. The kids had a good break and "tour" this is the only time they get out of their villages for a trip the big city. Most kids are doing very well in school. Those who are still performing poorly have other social issues which we are trying hard to sort out. One of the boys,is forced to do casual jobs during holidays to get some money for his upkeep at home. Of course this destruct his study program. The fact that other kids his age do not have to work to get basic needs makes him feel lesser. This affects his self esteem which reflects in his academic work. Our immediate action on this is to set a kitty aside to cater for "special" needs. This year is very important to us. Not only because we had made great friends through our work, but because four of our kids will be sitting for their final year exam. Much as we are excited about this, we are also the trying to plan on how to pay for their next level of education -colleges or universities-which will require huge amount of money. farley Sawyer, a Global Giving representative was in Kenya to visit Global Giving partners, as one of them, she paid us a visit on the first day of the mentorship weekend.She spent a whole day with our kids, chatted a lot with them and joined in some team building games.We received a certificate as a vetted GG partner. We are looking to our next student meeting which will be December. We always combine this with a party to thank all our friends and supporters. Will you join us?
