Our art Student

By Osome Esau | Beneficiary

Like many young artist, I began drawing at an early age. Upon joining school, it was unfortunately that art was not taught in these two particular levels. However, on completing high school, I decide to join Bobea Art Centre to acquire skills to boost born-talent. It was challeging at first due to socila and finicial challeges but Sports for Change rescued me by sponsoring my school fees. Mostly my art is about nature and women’s basic form and their life style. I think because women have sopported me all my life. In ary, I have several things. I thave learnt that,

       A picture paints a thousand words…….

Since time immemorial, art has been considered a form of speech. It is through visual images that ideas, moments in time and feelings are expressed. It allows one to express their individuality and to represent their beliefs, imagination and philosophies in acceptable ways.

Mary Baker, a contemporary realistic oil painter once said “A work of art is unique and passionate creation, which not only reflects the soul of the artist, but your soul as well, because you chose it”

What does art do to the individual and for society?

Art Means Work

When you look past the qualities of creativity; self-expression, and communication, art is an expression of the human spirit, and art is the evidence of work carried to the highest level.

Art Means Language

Art is a language of visual images that everyone must learn to read. In addition to making visual images, we also study them. Additionally, these images affect our needs, our daily behavior, our hopes, our opinions, and our ultimate ideals.

Art Means Values

Touching art is touching values: values about our homes and our families, where how we work and play the individual and society, nature and the environment, war and peace, beauty and ugliness, violence and love.

Art Is Therapy

By expressing yourself through art, it helps you process your emotions and eventually leads to healing. Art therapy, therefore, aims to help people express themselves unconsciously and process the meaning afterwards. In conclusion, these are just some of many reasons that art continues to be fundamental in society. It is the creative dialogue that is born between the artist and the owner of their creation. There are many untold stories that live in our hearts. Our minds, or are engrained in our spirits and there is nothing as miraculous as viewing a unique art piece that talks to you and that forever links you to the creative soul.

My long term goal and vision is to start therapy art project in hospitals.
