Meet our new student from mt Suswa

By Beth Wairimu | Student coordinator

Simon,is a maasai boy who come from Suswa NarokCounty. He is 16 years old ,a first born in a family of five .He has two brothers and two sisters.Wemet him during our trip at maasai land where we had gone to learn maasai culture and experience camping in the wild. He was introduced to us by one of our guide Jeremiah and was his assistant guide and our night guard. As a night guard, he had to sleep ouside with only a blanket. He has done this work before and he say, it helps him get pocket money.

Simon did his primary final exam  K.C.P.E (Kenya certificate of primary exams) last year and attained 357 marks out of possible 500markswhich was amazing performance. This drew our attention to him. His performance was so good that he got a place in a national school but unfortunatelyhis parents could not afford the amount needed for him to enrol since they have no jobs .They entirely depend on cattles..

We were impressed by his performance ,he is intelligent, bright and very friendly. This earned him a chance in sport for change. He is now in form one at Kenyatta High School at Mwatate. He is enjoying high school life though he says its challenging due to long journey to school. He has to sleep over in Nairobi to make it to school in time during opening day or midterm. A journey that takes him more than 8 hours.

We are very happy to say Simon got a sponsor who is willing to support him until he achieve his dream of becoming a lawyer.

We thanks you all for your generosity and continued support.
