Since this project was approved in April 2026, Action for Mothers and Children has continued expanding access to free, evidence-based maternal and newborn health education through its Mothers’ Classes program.
During May, June and July, 1,446 pregnant women and new parents participated in Mothers’ Classes across Kosovo, receiving practical guidance on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care and early parenthood.
In August, the program expanded in two important ways. On August 6, AMC opened a new Mothers’ Classes room inside the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Neonatology Clinic in Prishtina. The dedicated space provides a more welcoming environment for mothers whose newborns are receiving specialized care. It was furnished and equipped through a €5,000 contribution from Bambo Nature Kosova, which also donated a wooden cabinet and 100 sets of bed linens for the NICU.
On August 7, AMC expanded Mothers’ Classes to a second location in Fushë Kosovë. Following specialized training, 11 nurses and midwives will deliver classes at the Main Family Medicine Center, giving more families access to reliable health information and support. Mothers’ Classes are also offered through The Ideas Partnership in Fushë Kosovë.
With this expansion, AMC’s Mothers’ Classes program is now available at 20 sites across 17 municipalities in Kosovo, helping more families access trusted health information while strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals to provide education and support as part of routine care.
