In rural areas, summer vacations often widen gaps in children's learning. Our "Summer Tomorrow School" aims to provide free summer programs for children in underserved rural areas of Taiwan, fostering learning motivation and future-ready skills. Your support will help cover essential costs, making these transformative programs possible.
Students from rural areas are more severely impacted by "Summer learning loss", a drop in academic performance in the long school break. School children's academic ability reduces by at least 1 month over summer, especially for many families with insufficient access to support resources. There is limited access to educational support and resources for rural communities, which exacerbates gaps in learning outcomes.
The Summer Tomorrow School is a rural camp service for underprivileged communities in Taiwan. We collaborate with elementary schools in areas of high demand and train mission-aligned volunteers to facilitate meaningful learning experiences for students. Through creative courses, real-world challenges, this program helps sustain learning momentum and motivation over summer break, and connects students to valuable mentors.
So far, the program has collaborated with 11 schools, trained 180 university student volunteers, and impacted 445 children. After the Summer Tomorrow School, Teach for Taiwan relays the learning progress of students to their teachers, reducing the impact of "Summer learning loss". Children will gain knowledge and confidence, and the communities are empowered through education. The young volunteers also grow together with children, deepening a sense of mission for educational equity.
