In another first, the Community Action Alliance's Education Scholarship Program has initiated a volunteer dental-care partnership with a local dentist, Dra. Aldonza Badilla and the Picado Dental Clinic here in San Ramon, Costa Rica. Dra. Badilla held the first dental health workshop with a number of our students recently and performed a brief oral evaluation for each attendee.
We are now scheduling one stuent per week, to receive a dental clenaing or uavity repair procedure by Dra. Badilla. Our goal is to provide care to all of our scholarship students by the middle of 2025. Many of our students have never had dental care, so this will be a first!
This dental helath improvement initiative would not be possible without the volunteer - in- service contribution of Dr. Badilla and her clinic which subsidizes about half of the cost of the clinical supplies, resin, and other materials. Dental health is a big component of overall wellness, and gaining a big beautiful smile like Dr. Aldonza's would indeed be a blessing.
We send our grateful appreciation to these local dentists and also to the donor members from GlobalGiving who support our efforts to keep these students healthy and help them reach their educational goals.
