The Education Committee of The Community Action Alliance would like to congratulate one of our former Scholarship students, Esther Umana, on her desire to donate time and gifts to needy children in the small pueblo of Upala, Costa Rica this past Christmas. Esther and her co-workers drove 4 hours from the capitol of San Jose to deliver 60 gifts to children at the elementary school of La Verbena. They also donated notebooks and school supplies to the school, as well as board games that promote teamwork and communication. They collected juice, cookies and candies and made little bags for the children to take home. Her friends, co-workers and family helped make a delicious lunch for the children and she told me that it made her so happy to see so many smiles! Esther went on to explain, "I am very happy because I received help from the CAA for a long time and it provided me with opportunities for an education I would not have had without their help. I am so happy to be able to give back to the Upala community during Christmas.” The Community Action Alliance is so very proud of her generous spirit and desire to help children living in poverty. We thank her for the example she has set of “ paying it forward” as well as all our donors at GlobalGiving for all they do to help care for and educate our students.
