Our Scholarship Students Continue to Impress

By Marian Latham | Project Author/Editor

The Community Action Alliance in San Ramon, Costa Rica  and their Education Committee want to congratulate our 10 Scholarship students who recently graduated from our high schools .  Additionally, 3 of our recent graduates received high enough scores on their entrance exams to enroll in the University of Costa Rica in Fall, 2025.  Graduation from high school has been a dream for our students and their families, and now thanks to the generosity of our GlobalGiving donors and the tireless efforts of our CAA volunteers, many of them have achieved their dream.

In other news, here in San Ramon, we have been blessed with a newly arrived English teacher who is now bringing English classes for the first time to 3 of our small community schools.  These schools are very fortunate  indeed to have Ms. Alice instructing them in English grammar and pronunciation through songs, games, stories and individual speaking practice .  These children's parents are so impressed with their children's progress that they have been clamoring for their own lessons with Ms. Alice .  So they have begun meeting in the evenings at one of the local churches, schools, or even sometimes the meeting room at the local water department for their English classes.  It has been a wonderful thing to witness such enthusiastic parents - one local family offered to provide a home for  Ms. Alice , and I have a feeling their children are getting "extra English lessons".

And finally, members of the Education Committee and our social work intern met with our 10th and 11th grade students to help them begin learning about the university admissions process and how best to prepare for their entrance exams.   The Community Action Alliance is fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers working to build better lives for young people.  This level of educational support would not be possible without the generosity of many faithful GlobalGiving donors, and our network of annual individual supporters. We thank you for sponsoring  the educational dreams of these students - an investment in education for these students is an investment for life.
