Some months bring us small reasons to celebrate, and this has been one of them. Behind every activity, class, support session, and space we offer lies something far more important: girls and young women who have the opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare to build a different kind of life.
This month, we had a very special reason to celebrate. One of our young women successfully completed her training as a nursing assistant. Seeing her finish this process and prepare to face life as an independent adult reminds us why it is worth supporting them every step of the way.
Her achievement is also part of a much larger story. Currently, 47 young women are part of our University House and are pursuing higher education. Alongside their academic studies, they receive monthly psychosocial support and participate in group sessions covering topics vital for independent living—such as saving money, entering the workforce, nutrition, and navigating the city.
For us, it isn't just about a young woman earning a degree; it is about ensuring that when the time comes to leave the University House, she possesses the tools to navigate the world, make decisions, recognize her own capabilities, and face a future built with greater confidence and autonomy.
While we celebrate these achievements by our young women, our younger girls are also continuing to discover new ways to learn and share.
We strive to ensure that education here goes beyond academics. That is why, this month, we continued to incorporate activities such as embroidery, music, reading, dance, yoga, and English—opportunities that allow them to discover new interests, develop skills, and, above all, enjoy their time while learning.
One of the activities that has excited us most during this process is our vegetable garden. It might seem like a simple thing, but for our girls, it has meant so much more.
The garden has become yet another space for learning. There, they learn to work together, to nurture, to practice patience, to take responsibility for something, and to recognize that their efforts can yield results. And perhaps the most beautiful part is seeing the excitement with which they show us what they have achieved. These girls come from backgrounds and experiences that have often been complex, yet today we also see them enjoying themselves, learning, connecting with others, and finding excitement in the opportunities they encounter in their daily lives. Every activity, every form of support, and every new lesson contributes to that journey.
We know that many of the girls and young women who come to our Foundation have faced difficult situations. That is why our work goes beyond simply providing food, education, recreation, and care. It is also about offering experiences that allow them to discover their capabilities, build their confidence, and prepare for a different future.
And that is where every contribution becomes something much greater.
It translates into a young woman celebrating the completion of her training as a nursing assistant. Into 47 young women continuing their studies and preparing for their professional lives. Into 50 girls discovering they can learn English, do embroidery, practice yoga, or tend a vegetable garden. Into the thrill of watching a plant grow from a seed they planted themselves.
These achievements may seem small in isolation, but together they represent the chance for our girls and young women to gain the tools they need to decide what they want to do with their futures.
Thank you to everyone who is part of this mission. Because every contribution enables us to keep building—step by step—the opportunities they deserve.
