COVID-19 has affected us all. While some countries have been more prepared than others, those less fortunate are facing hard time. DMI heart looks to Haiti. Only recently facing a cholera outbreak, the 2010 earthquake leaving still tens of thousands homeless in densely populated streets without proper sanitation or guaranteed access to clean drinking water. Haiti is facing the perfect storm. With your help, we can expand our water, sanitation, and hygiene programs to save more lives.
How do you wash your hands without clean water? One of the key ways to fight COVID-19 and other infectious diseases is by washing your hands. But unfortunately, limited access to clean water, caused by conflict, drought and poverty, means that hand-washing is not an option for millions of people. And for so many communities.
Our teams are working tirelessly to provide vulnerable families with hygiene kits and other lifesaving assistance. A simple kit - consisting of soap, water purification tools and hygiene products many of us take for granted - could mean the difference between life and death. they are repairing the broken water pumps and training to affected communities to share their new knowledge with their neighbors, training that is essential to the success of these projects.
These projects will prevent the spread of the disease, death from drinking unclean water and educate communities to care for their families' health and well-being.
