This project will construct Three (3) water boreholes for the three identified communities in Nigeria for them to have safe and clean water for many years to come.
One in three people in Gusau live without Clean and Safe Water. Although huge strides have been made with access to clean drinking water by our organization in the past few years, these strides are not enough as many more communities need access to clean and safe water for life. Some of the villages had access to a nearby open well that seems like a solution, but it's not. Open wells run dry. They also store contaminated water which often means sickness and diarrhea for the people who use them.
The project will provide substantially increase water-use efficiency across all sectors and ensure sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater to address water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity in Africa by constructing water well boreholes and hand pumps.
Communities who don't have access to clean water face unimaginable hardships, with women and children walking for hours to collect even a little water, and families unable to support themselves due to lack of education and livelihood. This project will thus empower families and communities to have safe and clean water for their day to day use while also helping achieving the UN Goal 6.
