One Life to Give needs help to raise funds for building a Trade School and Vocational Center. This School will give 150 youth in rural Kenya the tools and techniques to create their own business plus give them access to jobs so they can improve their financial environment. Our project will include programs for tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, hospitality, entrepreneurship, web design, visual arts, dance, and alternative techniques in farming.
Youth in Kenya that are fortunate enough to receive a high school education and graduate, aren't set up to succeed. Some students excel in their studies and with their final exam score being higher than a C+, they qualify for a place in state-certified colleges or universities, if they can afford it. However, about 70% score a C or lower which leaves them little options.
One Life to Give recognizes that skills are the way of the future for Kenyans and we are excited to give our students hands-on learning experience so they can create their own careers or be an excellent worker for someone else. With our Vocational Center being on campus the students in our program and graduates can get paid a fair paycheck for the work completed. One Life to Give will source projects from other companies (who believe in ethically made products) and will have them created.
Skills will allow our students to create. These creations will provide income for this community in rural Kenya. These jobs will empower youth and drastically improve the lives of these families. One Life To Give Trade School can effectively work with 150 students every year to build their entrepreneurial skills which help them break the cycle of poverty that they are surrounded by.
