Summary

Criminal syndicates are targeting South Africa's rhinos for their horns, leaving behind brutally murdered adults and defenceless, injured calves. This Giving Tuesday, you can be their lifeline. Join us in saving these vulnerable orphans and giving them a chance to heal, grow, and thrive. Thanks to GlobalGiving's matching campaign, your gift will go even further. You CAN make a difference - please help us to save rhinos, before it's too late.

Challenge

South Africa's rhino poaching crisis leaves orphaned calves traumatised, injured, and fighting for survival. These vulnerable rhinos require urgent rescue, specialised veterinary care, and a safe space to recover. Rehabilitation is a long and intensive process, helping them heal physically and emotionally. With time, they can be released into secure environments, ensuring the future of their species. Without intervention, rhinos face extinction.

Solution

This project will support Care for Wild, a world-renowned rescue and rehabilitation facility with over a decade of experience in saving rhinos. With a highly trained and dedicated team, we specialise in providing intensive, tailored care for orphaned and injured rhinos, ensuring their physical and emotional recovery. Funds raised will enable us to continue to deliver the best veterinary care, nutrition, and security for these rhinos. Every rhino matters.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project goes beyond rescuing individual rhinos; it plays a crucial role in protecting the species as a whole. We have already successfully rewilded and released 51 rhinos into secure, protected areas, with 20 calves born from these released orphans, including a critically endangered black rhino. This success story not only contributes to healthy rhino populations, but also strengthens protected areas by placing communities at the heart of conservation.
