What A Difference a Year Makes!

Dealla and Cahira heading out on a walk

It has been a year since the three Great Pyrenees arrived in our care. The three were part of a larger group that were abandoned on Palomar Mountain in northern San Diego County. Garda, Dealla and Cahira arrived extremely fearful and unable to be handled. County of San Diego Department of Animal Services had made the hard decision to move forward with humane euthanasia for Dealla and Cahira if we did not exit them within 48 hours. The girls were considered so shut down that shelter staff was concerned about their quality of life.

What a difference a year has made, thanks to you and your generous support. All three of these Great Pyrenees now has a team of volunteers, our Dog Team, that they respond very positively to. All three Great Pyrenees can now be examined by our veterinarian and brushed by Dog Team volunteers.

The personalities of each of these three have really become apparent. Garda is the most playful of the trio. He lives fulltime with our St. Bernard, Bear, and they are always up for a play session. Dealla really enjoys being pet by our volunteers. Cahira is the shyest but always tries to accept new experiences. What all three share is their absolute LOVE of walks around the ranch.

These three dogs have come so far in the last year. We are so proud of the progress they have made and so grateful every day for your support. It is your generosity that has made their life at the ranch possible. And as we see their tails wag in greeting for the Dog Team Volunteers, we no longer question their quality of life.

Thank you for making all their tail wags and happy faces possible!
