PROTIBANADHI SHISHU SHIEKKHA O PARICHARJA SAMITY (PROSHIPS) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities, particularly women, adolescent girls, and children in the Jamalpur district of Bangladesh. As part of its mission to foster community-based development, During the reporting periods, PROSHIPS running education program , Different orientation on IGAs, organized & Conducted several program and activities for the wellbeing of children with disabilities in our working areas. Observed program activities with Adolescent girls & women with Disabilities in the community. On World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, PROSHIPS as a Disability focused organization marked a transformative milestone in Jamalpur district Country-Bangladesh, by addressing the deeply rooted taboos, stigma, and silence surrounding menstruation. Our inclusive session brought together both girls and boys, fostering a safe space for open dialogue, education, and dignity.Under the global theme of "Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld," our initiative aimed to empower communities by normalizing conversations around menstruation, dismantling harmful beliefs, and advancing menstrual equity. The Challenges are - Menstrual Poverty, Taboos, and Missed Opportunities, Menstrual health remains a silent crisis for many adolescent girls in Jamalpur district and across the Country. Due to limited access to sanitary products, misinformation, and cultural shame, many girls suffer in silence.
Discussion meeting with community people on Child health and organize an Eye Camp focused on blindness prevention and cataract screening with the technical support of Ispahani Islamia Eye Hospital in Jamalpur. The primary goal of the Eye Camp & conducting discussion meeting was to improve vision and overall quality of life for individuals suffering from preventable blindness, particularly cataracts and building health care on disable Children. Providing free eye check-ups and cataract screening to underprivileged disable & individuals.Raising awareness about preventable blindness and the importance of early diagnosis.Offering referrals for surgeries and treatment to ensure better access to healthcare. Contributing to poverty alleviation by enabling individuals to regain their vision and productivity. Early detection and treatment of children health services & cataracts can prevent blindness. Access to affordable and quality eye care is a fundamental human right. Community participation is vital in spreading awareness about preventable blindness. Discussion meeting with community people on child health of disability andThe Eye Camp reached hundreds of individuals, providing free eye screenings and identifying cataract patients who required further treatment. Restored vision not only empowered individuals but also reduced the caregiving burden on families, enabling members to participate more actively in economic activities.
Restoring vision has a transformative impact on families living in poverty. Individuals who regain their sight can return to work, contribute to household income, and reduce dependency on family members. This ripple effect fosters greater economic stability and independence, aligning with PROSHIPS’ mission to enhance the economic security of communities. Discussion meeting and Eye Camp organized by PROSHIPS exemplifies our commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities through sustainable, community-driven programs. By prioritizing education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, PROSHIPS continues to pave the way for a more inclusive society.
