Grants for disabled children in Bangladesh

Organized Eye Camp & community consultation and advocacy meeting

Protibandhi Shishu Shiekkha O Paricharja Samity (Proships) working with Children with Disabilities in Bangladesh . Organization Designed to approximately 1,000 Children with disabilities and others disadvantaged children of District: Jamalpur in BANGLADESH will directly benefit from this project. The disabled children will get education, health services, Wheel-chairs, Treatment & medical support, also get different ability and skills. Involved in various "income generating activities, relief & rehabilitation support to any disaster period.

During the last quarter 30^th April 2026, PROSHIPS organized an inclusive Eye Camp in Jamalpur District for children with disabilities and disadvantaged community members. A total of 60 children with disabilities received eye examinations, vision screening, medical consultations, and referrals for specialized treatment when required. Community members and parents were also provided with awareness sessions on eye care, early detection of vision problems, and blindness prevention. To improve the health, wellbeing, and social inclusion of persons with disabilities and disadvantaged communities in Jamalpur District, Bangladesh, through accessible and inclusive health and education services. To identify and address eye health problems among children with disabilities and vulnerable community members, contributing to the prevention of avoidable blindness and improved quality of life.

PROSHIPS organize & implemented the activity titled “ Advocacy & Consultation meeting on Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) for Basic need  ” on the dated 12 May 2026to support vulnerable flood-affected children with disability communities living in the river basin areas of the Jamuna River and Brahmaputra River. Every year, severe flooding and river erosion create humanitarian crises for local families, especially Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), women, adolescent girls, and children. Periods of emergencies, affected families are forced to take shelter in flood centers and temporary institutions where access to electricity, food, safety, and basic services remains extremely limited. To respond to these urgent humanitarian needs, PROSHIPS initiative focused on distributing solar-powered lights, dry food packages, and essential emergency relief items to improve safety, mobility, and living conditions during flood emergencies. Solar lights were especially important for women, girls, children, and persons with disabilities, helping them move safely at night inside overcrowded shelters where electricity is unavailable.

On the dated on 12 May 2026, PROSHIPS organized a community consultation and advocacy meeting on Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) with participation from Persons with Disabilities, community volunteers, women representatives, and Upazila government officials from Islampur Upazila Jamalpur district. Upazilla Nirbahi officer Nazmul Hussain Presence as chief guest in the meeting . The meeting created an important platform for flood-affected people to raise their voices, share experiences, and identify the most urgent humanitarian needs during disasters. Participants emphasized the necessity of accessible shelter support, emergency lighting, food assistance, and disability-inclusive response mechanisms.

 As a result of this activity, vulnerable families received immediate humanitarian assistance and improved protection during flood emergencies. The intervention also strengthened coordination between local communities, volunteers, and government representatives for inclusive disaster preparedness and response. Women with disabilities, adolescent girls, and children expressed that access to solar lights increased their sense of security and dignity within temporary shelters. The activity are contributing poverty reduction in their family and will be increase livelihoods conditions. Thus Long term impact of this activity will directly contribute on poverty reduction.

Program Progress Report for Development of Disable Children

 During the Reporting period, Several Important activities were organized to promote the rights, health and wellbeing of children in Jamalpur district,Bangladesh under the program of Grants for disabled children in Bangladesh. The programs focused especially on the development and empowerment of children with disabilities.

On the dated 3^rd January 2026 Educational materials and textbooks were provided to underprivileged students to support their learning and encourage school attendance. To protect vulnerable children from severe winter cold, blankets were distributed among children with disabilities and poor families.

 On the dated 21th January 2026 Discussion and opinion-sharing meetings were conducted with parents, students, and community members on promoting children’s and women’s health rights. These sessions helped raise awareness on child protection, education, hygiene, and social inclusion. As part of adolescent health support, menstruation hygiene packages were distributed to schoolgirls to improve their personal health and dignity. Health service activities, including therapy and rehabilitation support, were also arranged to improve the physical and mental condition of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

On the dated 27^th January 2026 on behalf of PROTIBANDHI SHISHU SHIKKHA O PARICHARJA SAMITY (PROSHIPS) successfully organized a Teachers Training Session on Teaching Methods & Curriculum Development for students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD). The training aimed to strengthen teachers’ classroom skills and promote children’s educational rights and empowerment.

The programs received strong support from local government authorities. The Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) attended several events as chief guest and encouraged the initiatives. Other government officials were also present as special guests, which strengthened coordination and community trust.

All activities were implemented successfully with active participation from students, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders. These interventions contributed significantly to improving health awareness, educational access, and social empowerment of children with disabilities. The overall impact of the programs has been highly positive and beneficial for the target community. Disabled children & disadvantaged children will get educational support, Assistive device, Therapy service & medical support as their needs which helps them for become Self dependent & Productive.
