Greetings all,
I hope the new year has been treating you well so far. We have some quick updates to share about the Clean Rivers project, operated by our partner Dr. Ihor Bubniak from Lviv Polytechnic. During the fall, he and his team worked to analyze water samples collected from the Sukel' River, which they have been surveying over the past year to identify interesting geoforms as well as point sources of pollution. They have discovered that despite runoff into the river and illegal dump sites, that the river was chemically cleaner than they expected. As a result, this year they will be focusing more on developing the geotourism component of the project. Towards that end, they'll be involving students from Lviv Polytechnic, University of Lviv, and Precarpathian Professional College of Forestry and Tourism in the Greenworks Project Design curriculum to help design the next stage of the project. Over the next few months, students will be traveling to the field site and exploring possibilities for tourism and how they can progress to the next phase of the project. We're excited to see what they come up with!
Coming up in exactly two weeks is the Little by Little fundraising campaign. Starting Tuesday, March 25th (mark your calendars!), all your donations of $10-$50 will be matched at 50%! That means that a $10 donation becomes a $15 donation, and a $50 donation becomes a $75 donation! Funding for this project runs out this year, so all new donations help us to continue working with this great community in 2026. I hope you'll be able to contribute some spare change during this campaign!
With gratitude,
Lev
