The stigmatization and discrimination of LGBTQI people, people living with HIV and other vulnerable people exacerbates issues related to food security and nutrition and has a negative impact on health outcomes. GrenCHAP's Food Bank will provide people living with HIV and their families, LGBTQI people and other vulnerable people with access to nutritional food items while also providing psychosocial support and access to educational and life skills programs with the aim of empowering people.
The stigmatization and discrimination of LGBTQI people, people living with HIV and other vulnerable people exacerbates issues related to food security and contributes to negative health outcomes. Poor nutrition can hasten the progression of AIDS related illness and has an impact on adherence. Additionally, lack of food security can lead to high risk and illegal activities that can be detrimental to the health and well-being of LGBTQI people, people living with HIV and other vulnerable people.
GrenCHAP will provide food; toiletries; and individual and group counseling to people living with HIV, LGBTQI people and other vulnerable people to improve health outcomes. Additionally, training to improve the life-skills and other employable skills will be provided to all clients benefiting from the food the bank. GrenCHAP seeks to provide the necessary service to ensure that clients have adequate access to food while also empowering people to become self-reliant.
The project will improve the health and social outcomes of people living with HIV, LGBTQI and other vulnerable people by providing access to food, toiletries and psychosocial support while also empowering people to become self-reliant through the the development of employable skills and life-skills.
