Aid for Gaza, Iraq & Syria Refugees in Jordan

Dear Friends, 

We have continued the school project as planned. In August, thanks to the support of GlobalGiving funds, Mensajeros de la Paz Jordan purchased fabric to produce school uniforms for all the children. We are supporting Iraqi refugees through its existing school "The Messengers of Peace School" in the heart of Marka, Amman, which serves 180 Iraqi refugee students — 100 girls and 80 boys. The school stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for Iraqi refugees who sought refuge in Jordan amidst the tumultuous aftermath of the Iraqi war. This informal educational institution embodies a profound commitment to the principles of the right to education, the right to play, and the right to learn.

As part of our new project objectives, we are addressing both short- and long-term protection and socio-economic concerns of 9000 urban refugees and vulnerable members of the host community in Amman, empowering them to defend their rights and dignity, proposing an integrated nexus approach. The project aims to promote the resilience of individuals affected by the protracted displacement crisis in Jordan and the current crisis in Gaza, through capacity building, education, training, and community-based activities, as well as awareness raising.

These past few months have been very busy for us. 

Regarding our plan on maintaining our commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are prioritising five areas for the coming strategy period and designing our programs and projects with an eye towards holistic programming and projects to advance these areas through a holistic approach. The five areas for the coming strategy period are Gender Equality, Quality Education, Economic Justice, Humanitarian Assistance, and Climate Change.

Quality education is pivotal for Jordan’s future, empowering individuals and addressing national challenges. Our strategic focus includes technology integration, inclusivity, community engagement, partnerships, sustainable financial models, and a culture of continuous improvement. This structured approach ensures a holistic and effective education system.

Regarding humanitarian assistance, we persist in aiding the substantial refugee population despite economic challenges. With over 660,600 Syrians and 80,000 refugees from other nations, we're expanding our Protection program, prioritising community-led solutions for vulnerable groups, emphasising resilience, and reducing dependency on humanitarian aid. Additionally, we're collaborating with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Foundation to send essential medical supplies, hygiene kits, and other non-food items to the people in Gaza.
