This project is organizing relief efforts in the Central Highlands and Lake Atitlan region for indigenous communities affected by widespread destruction from Tropical Storm Agatha.
Tropical Storm Agatha has caused widespread destruction throughout Guatemala. Indigenous communities in central Guatemala have been devastated. Mudslides and rains have destroyed homes, and thousands are displaced. Interruption of water supplies and destruction of crops threaten the health and livelihood of many. This project is organizing support for relief efforts in the Central Highlands and Lake Atitlan regions of Guatemala.
This project provides basic medical care to displaced persons, emergency rations and nutritional support, and help with rebuilding activities, particularly the provision of clean water and basic housing.
Prompt and sustained response to this disaster will ensure both the immediate safety of those affected and also prevent further collateral damage from infectious diseases and malnutrition.
