Over the past few months, our new Grace Rehabilitation Centre in Northern Haiti has begun transforming lives, providing essential rehabilitation services and fostering a strong sense of community. Already providing specialised rehabilitation, physiotherapy, counselling, and vocational training for individuals with spinal cord injuries and neurological disabilities, the centre received a very special delivery this month: a container filled with vital rehab equipment, which is now actively in use by our dedicated physiotherapy team.
One of the most inspiring moments has been seeing Kendley, a beneficiary whose journey we shared in December, take an active role in helping to set up this equipment and shape the centre’s future. After sustaining a spinal cord injury from a stray bullet, he spent two years without adequate care, until he was able to receive specialised rehabilitation and support through HHA. Today, not only is he regaining independence, but he’s also lending a hand helping our staff and volunteers build essential furniture for the space. His involvement perfectly captures HHA’s commitment to inclusion, dignity, and empowerment.
As the centre continues to develop, stories like Kendley’s remind us of the profound impact of accessible rehabilitation. With ongoing support, we’re not just providing medical care, we’re building a community where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.
