AWARD Pakistan has managed to raise USD 20.105 to install hand pumps and water wells in Tehsil Balakot, District Mansehra. Fewer donations have been collected during the past quarter. Therefore, we request our supporters to help us reach the vulnerable and marginalized communities in District Mansehra. Through this project, the children and women of Balakot were provided with wells and handpumps in 4 target areas, as the children of the areas were suffering from multiple diseases due to the contaminated water of the river, which was the only source of drinking water.
The project benefited nearly 8,000 inhabitants (including women and children) of Balakot.According to Mr. Mustafa (the social mobilizer), the beneficiaries are satisfied with the provided facility and are using it with great responsibility. The disease ratio in these areas has been drastically reduced after the intervention.
AWARD wants to extend this project to at least six other communities living in the mountains. We request all our donors and supporters to help provide children and women (living in far-flung mountainous areas) with access to safe drinking water.
