Dear Donors,

we are really happy to share with all of you news about Aleimar’s last monitoring trip to Benin! Last November our volunteers and Country Manager Antonio and Piero had the opportunity to visit all our projects in the north and in the center of Benin and in particular the pediatric Hospital L’Abbraccio of Sokpontà, in the central region of Benin.

We had the chance to visit the neonatology built thanks to your support, confirming once again the fundamental role that this service can play in the life of thousands of mothers and children in Le Collines Distric. The ward is a real and avantgarde point of reference for the most serious cases that need to be followed by experts with a specific equipment.

This trip gave also the opportunity to strengthen the bond between Aleimar and the Hospital, which is a really reliable local partner. Thanks to the experiences gained during the last decade of collaboration, the partners have decided to increase their joint work: thanks to the local staff of L’Abbraccio Hospital and community mobilizers, Aleimar wants to support an important activity of screening among the nearest villages. Once a month, experts and volunteers will meet mothers and their children in order to check their health condition. They will weigh them, provide food and supplements and – most importantly – they will train the mothers through cooking sessions. Thanks to these workshops they will learn how to combine nutritious foods and how to follow the most basic hygiene practices. The most serious cases will be hospitalized in L’Abbraccio Hospital.

We are sure that just an activity of training and screening can really prevent women and child malnutrition and all the health problems correlated to food insecurity that are nursed in the ward of neonatology. Thanks to your help we can support a great number of mothers and children of the District!
Thank you!
