To all the people who donated during the July Bonus Day campaign, thank you! Indeed, your contribution has allowed us to raise the initial funds for the new facility to start working effectively.
The current Covid-19 emergency has heavily affected Benin as well and it has imposed a lockdown in the country. As a consequence, construction progress has been slowed down by the suspension of work activities.
However, assistance to new mothers has still been guaranteed. In fact, it is even more important given that the situation in Benin is not improving: as of today, there are more than 1,500 registered cases and more than 100 deaths. These data are clearly alarming as, in case of a pandemic outbreak, public and healthcare infrastructures would not be able to stop the spread of the virus in the country.
Thanks to your support, we are now halfway through the objective. At this point, your help becomes crucial: demand from new mothers is increasing and it is fundamental to cope with such a need, especially during the difficult circumstances Benin is experiencing nowadays.
While we wish to start working at a fast pace, we have to keep providing an essential service to Beninese newborn children and their mothers.
