The last few months we here at Heal One World have seen our attendance in classes jump three-fold! So many people in the community are taking advantage of our free classes and community clinics/treatments.
Welcome to our new teachers: Yoga: Adam Leibovitch; Rebecka Larsdotter; Jack DuFour; Ryan Bautiste; Barbara Mandujano. Pilates Instructor Alisha Pye. Zumba Instructor Eva Dobesch. And our Acupuncturist Donielle James, LAc. All of these amazing volunteers are what make Heal One World Possible. Along with Arti Panjiwani-Kvam, Lacey-Ann Bryant and MIchele Miron.
Our Awareness Fest West brought out hundreds of people celebrating film and opening eyes! Many thanks to Jenn Tamera, De Jur and Felicia Tomasko, RN for teaching free classes during the festival along with our regular teachers. The World Premiere of Femme brought out a sold-out theater's crowd! All of our films were very inspiring. The winners, Free China, Maya Biosana and A Sister's Call were just the highlights!
We are happy to announce that we will begin new free classes at partner Electric Lodge's Studio twice a week adding to the two classes we already have the the Simms/Mann clinic in Santa Monica.
Our newest program has been very rewarding!
Strength In Zen:
Thousands of teens wake up every day afraid to go to school because of physical, verbal, and psychological bullying, according to a report from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Bullies often target those they see as different, using their strength of social status to put themselves in control and belittle their targets. Heal One World aims to teach youths targeted by bullies the art of yoga, meditation, and self defense so that they can overcome, avoid, and help prevent bullying.
The Strength-In-Zen program teaches youth physical and mental exercises to help them overcome fear and increase their sense of self-worth. These new found skills—from meditation and yoga to Tai Chi and self defense—can empower the young people to prevent and avoid bullying in their schools, thereby boosting their self-esteem and their chances of academic success. Each participant receives a yoga mat and a CD for home practice.
We love our kids taking part and our families.
Much Aloha from everyone at HOW and thanks for your ongoing support!
