Springing up this season at Heal One World are some cool new classes! Awareness Through Movement is starting in June. Tai Chi is expanding and the classes at front porch at the Vista Towers will be broadcast to several different senior centers in Southern California. We are also implementing a Summer Yoga Program at A Place Called Home in South Central for youth which will continue until the Fall with Zumba! in their regular weekly program. We are taking part of their Health Fair in May offering free yoga and Zumba classes. Additionally, the founder of Amayoga, Aimee Schoof, has recently joined forces with Heal One World and under our name, arranges free yoga classes at homeless shelters and transitional housing. She is also a new boardmember of the project. We are happy to announce we were a finalist for the LA Business Journals Healthcare Leadership Awards
This year, Heal One World is also proud to present the Fourth Annual Awareness Festival! Started in 2010, the Festival’s intent has been to promote awareness of today’s issues through the art of film. In addition, it has been the largest annual funding source for Heal One World. This year, we have expanded our reach with new venues, sponsorships, initiatives and a number of engaging films targeting issues such as mental illness, environmental deterioration and spirituality as well as social action campaigns. Some of the films, shorts and documentaries we will be showcasing include “Home,” Turning Point" and “Beauty and the Breast.” We are also proud to announce that we will be having our opening night in Santa Monica with many awesome venues around town also taking part. Lastly, an idea I spearheaded and introduced at Sundance was the Zen Den – a space that provided meditation, yoga and film screenings. It was more than well received and we were able to network with a number of people who are now connected with the Awareness Fest and Heal One World for the foreseeable future. We are also planning on incorporating Zen Den at this festival for filmmakers as well as attendees. Join us if you are in LA for some free classes!
