Heal One World had a great summer. The Pico Blvd clean up walk was a great success with over sixty participants and featured a photo scavenger hunt and Tai Chi in the park. There was delicious Korean bibimbap served to over one hundred at Queen Anne park in conjunction with Bibimbap Backpackers.
There was also the Moksha yoga festival where executive director Skye Kelly gave a talk on self care and Heal One World connected with numerous participants. Moksha is Los Angeles' only yoga festival and held downtown.
Starting off the fall, how presented the 6th annual Awareness Film Festival at the amazing LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. The highly successful festival showcased over 150 films from 37 countries, with over 100 filmmakers attending from as far away as Sweden, Dubai and Australia. The film's all illuminated issues that are pressing in today's world ranging from heath, political, environmental and the spirit. There were several awards given out, four parties and was a successful fundraiser for Heal One World.
Heal One World started a walk club as well as personal training assessments. Adding cardiovascular classes to round out our offerings we also are offering a weekly boot camp class taught by Mike, a certified personal trainer.
How is proud to be working in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente to bring Fit Right
In program to HOW offering a 6 month program of wellness incorporating nutrition, cardio, stress reduction and self care. Serving over 50 participants each session above the thousands served each year with free classses.
HOW participated in two health fairs in October offering wellness demos In yoga as a part of Let's Move fair and the Paramount Baptist Church Health fair.
Lastly HOW will be presenting a health fair in 2016 to start off the new year, and furthering the commitment to helping the homeless population as our Executive Director is chair of the Human Services and Environmental Committee with the local neighborhood council, and we will be serving the homeless with holiday meals.
