Zero Report for Project #73921 Project Title: Rest

By Simachew Yigzaw | Executive Director

Report Summary

Since the launch of this project on GlobalGiving, no donations have been received as of this reporting date (April 6, 2026). However, in accordance with GlobalGiving’s requirement to remain searchable and to keep our supporters informed, we are submitting this update to share the progress we have made in preparing for implementation.

Activities Completed (Without Project Funds)

Although we have not yet raised funds through GlobalGiving, our team has continued to move the project forward using existing organizational resources and volunteer support:

  1. Beneficiary Identification: We have identified and preregistered 2,450 women and girls in Bahir Dar and Gondar who meet the vulnerability criteria (displaced, lowincome, no access to health insurance). Full names are kept confidential; only anonymized data is stored.
  2. Partnership Agreements: We secured letters of intent from two local health insurance agencies/health care providers (in Bahir Dar and Gondar) confirming their willingness to enroll our beneficiaries once funds are available.
  3. Community Awareness Meetings: Held three small community dialogues (total 120 participants) in Bahir Dar and Gorgora to explain the health insurance scheme and gather feedback. No photos showing distress were taken – only positive, consentbased images of community members discussing solutions.
  4. Staff Training: Trained 5 community health workers on how to assist beneficiaries in using insurance cards and navigating local clinics.

Challenges

The main challenge remains the lack of dedicated funding. Without the $180,000 requested, we cannot yet pay for insurance premiums. We are actively sharing the project link through our local networks and social media to attract donors.

Looking Ahead

Once we receive even partial funding, we will immediately enroll the first cohort of beneficiaries. For every $10 raised, one woman or girl will get one month of health coverage. We are also exploring a small matching opportunity with a local business.

Photos

We are not uploading any photos with this report because no funded activities have taken place. As soon as we have consentbased, dignityaffirming images of enrollment or health center visits, we will include them in the next report.

Donor Acknowledgment

We deeply thank any future donors who will help turn this plan into action. Your support will directly restore health and hope to women and girls who currently cannot afford a doctor’s visit.
