From November 2025 to February 2026, Proyecto La Nueva Esperanza distributed 2,380 meals prepared in our kitchen. Each of our elder participant received the meals at their home, delivered by our driver. The homes are not near each other so the driver starts distributing at 10:30 am to be sure they got their meals by lunch time.
In December 2025 each participant received a Christmas present. They were surprised and happy to receive something special during this period.
It’s important to maintain a healthy environment at our senior homes. Puerto Rico had an increase of Covid and influenza by the end of 2025 and the new year, and our seniors and children health were heavily affected. A prevention kit was distributed to them because they are most fragile. The kit included alcohol, gloves, hand sanitizer, and masks.
Since children are part of the family we visited a pre-kinder classroom and distributed 22 prevention kits to the 5 year olds. We also visited a university classroom near our community and distributed prevention kits to 55 students. The kits are our way of assisting with the prevention of the spread of Covid and influenza in our population.
As part of our commitment to the community, our organization impacted 180 families with prevention kits and emergency box of food. Thanks to our donors, Proyecto La Nueva Esperanza was able to assist our elders and families.
