Attention to elderly needs

From November 2024 to February 2025, Proyecto La Nueva Esperanza distributed 2,328 meals directly to the home of our 50 participants.   In addition to driving, our driver continues to help the cook with the meal packaging so that they are able to distribute them on time.  Meal distribution takes about 3 hours because the participants homes are not near each other and each participant has to sign-off to confirm that they receive their lunch.

Five (5) participants received housekeeper services where their homes were cleaned and organized.  We also distributed prevention kits (alcohol, face masks, hand sanitizer) to the participants to help with allergies and other respiratory issues.

Our elders are extremely grateful for the meals and services provided.

Participant #1 Comment: “I’m very happy with the weekend meals.  It provides me with a very healthy meal, which otherwise I would not have.”

Participant #2 Comment: “I have benefited with the services and assistance that Proyecto La Nueva Esperanza has given me.  I really like the weekend meals”.

Participant #3 Comment: “As a new participant in this program, and I’m pleased with the variety of the meals.   I live alone and my only food source is food stamps (PAN).  I’m grateful for the emergency food they have given me”.

In addition to the above, we were able to coordinate with the Puerto Rico Food Bank the distribution of 1,000 food boxes, to project participants and families from the community.

Although these activities help only a small fraction of our elders, they continue to demonstrate that they have not been forgotten.
