Our organization is committed with the service we provide to our 65 elderly participants in the community of San Antonio, P.R. During the period from December 2023 to February 2024 we delivered 1,013 meals to our participants homes on Saturdays and Sundays. Due to a decrease in money available to buy food we had to eliminate the Fridays distribution but they receive a different menu every week. On February we started a food donation campaign and started to receive some donations.
The Case Manager visited the participants to verify how they are going with their influenza (flu) vaccines. She delivered 59 prevention kits (face masks, alcohol and hand sanitizer) to those who were lacking of these items to protect them.
We still having only one (1) housekeeper who visits six (6) participants by priority. She prepares breakfast and lunch and do some cleaning.
Five (5) participants were taken to their medical appointments in our official vehicle and to the pharmacy. One of them said “ I’m happy that the Proyecto La Nueva Esperanza is taking care of me. If not for them I will be missing some of my medical appointments because I don’t drive and most of the time I cannot find someone to take me.” Others were taken to the supermarket so they could buy some food/items.
The water treatment plant who supplies potable water to our community was undergoing maintenance for a few days. Our organization was able to distribute 108 water packs and, 49 packs of personal hygiene and cleaning items. We also delivered 80 food packages and 66 disposable cups and plates.
Our donors are very important as they help us with our mission with the elderly.
